Third Workshop on water and climate change adaptation in transboundary basins

25 – 26 April 2012

Geneva, Switzerland

This workshop will bring together persons from all over the world, engaged in activities on water and adaptation to climate change and variability, in particular in transboundary basins.

The workshop offers a platform for exchanging experience on climate change adapatation strategies, best practices, success factors and lessons learned.
The workshop will focus on the following issues:
1. Economic aspects of adaptation to climate change
2. Selecting and implementing adaptation measures
3. Integrating the different spatial and governance levels
4. Vulnerability assessment in transboundary basins
5. The ecosystem approach
6. Integrating sectoral interests into adaptation strategy

The workshop will start at 10.00 a.m. on Wednesday, 25 April 2012 and end at 6.00 p.m. on Thursday, 26 April 2012. It will be organized back-to-back with the fifth meeting of the Task Force on Water and Climate which will be held on Friday 27 April 2012. Working languages will be in English, French and Russian.

Participants are requested to complete the registration form and to transmit it to the UNECE Secretariat ( as soon as possible but not later than 11 April 2012.

Eligible participants from countries with economies in transition and developing countries may apply for financial support to facilitate their participation in the workshop. Requests for financial support, together with the registration form should be submitted to the UNECE Secretariat ( as soon as possible, but not later than 15 March 2012. No application will be accepted after this deadline. Due to limited funds available, priority will be given to experts providing inputs to the workshop. If you need a personal invitation letter for visa purpose, please contact the secretariat as soon as possible and also indicate it clearly in the registration form.
